Report abuse. A moving and compelling drama. There are few films which deal with the consequences of marriage breakdown in a positive way. Fireproof manages to show the reality of a couple who have grown apart and yet gives hope that relationships can be restored while not sugar-coating the experience.
I found myself utterly drawn in, hoping and rooting for the couple, devastated when things got progressively worse and yet inspired by the story.
The ending was perfect. A great movie for upcoming Valentines Day! I've seen the film a few times now and it still gets me. The challenge mentioned in the film - the Love Dare is available as a book and is if anything, tougher than the experience the character went through.
If you want to be a hero in your own marriage adventure - take the challenge! This film felt real. The struggles that many couples go through when complacency and self-centredness reign is brilliantly unpacked.
I wouldn't have guessed this was acted by amateurs. Very well directed and shot - I will be recommending it to friends. Wonderful Christian movie!

One Direction - Drag Me Down (Official Video)I didn't see how a movie could accomplish anything, but I decided to humor her and give it a try. Boy am I glad I did! This movie was so powerful, so moving, and so realistically written that I could relate to both the husband and the wife for different reasons obviously and it pulled me into the story to the point where I was wondering how things would turn out for them.
As the story unfolded, it made me cry and I don't mean a few years shed either. I went to bed thinking about the message this movie tried - and succeeded - to get across and I even wished the Love Dare was real so I could try it myself it is real by the way and can be bought on Amazon.
It's extremely powerful and I highly recommend this movie to anyone who is struggling in their relationship. It certainly made me think - and my husband - and we were able to start communicating because of it.
This movie gives tremendous insight into the struggles facing modern marriages. I was particularly impressed at the way it portrayed how pornography was affecting their marriage, and how the husband was able to overcome it by fighting back and removing the temptation entirely he destroyed his computer with a baseball bat.
Highly recommended. Even if your marriage isn't struggling, this movie will give you great insight into how to help other people with struggling marriages.
I did not choose to watch this so-called "film". When I came back to the living room, I was most distressed to find that my cat was being subjected to this ridiculous nonsense.
I turned it off immediately, of course. No one should have to watch anything with Kirk Cameron in it- it's not like he can act.

Even if you don't completely agree with the message, this is a positive, family friendly movie. I personally think that Fireproof is good quality, but if it doesn't meet your standards, then you should watch War Room.
The Kendricks continue to improve their productions. Good acting for the most part. Kirk Cameron is great and I really respect his unashamed and obvious faith, which is so lacking in Hollywood, of course.
The story feels a little too contrived to match the theme, but I love the idea of being able to strengthen and "fix" a marriage through faith and making your partner the focus, not yourself.
It's not as easy in practice, even though the movie plainly shows the difficulty, as even the movie depicts. I don't know if doing it the exact way the movie suggests would work for everyone, but again, what a concept.
It takes a lot of effort and selflessness to love someone forever, but if you're not going to do that, why get married?
Now don't get me wrong, this movie definitely has some major "cheese" factor to it, but the underlying message and core issues it brings to light with marriage are hugely important and often not talked about in our "me, me, now!
It shows a lot of the typical routines and situations the average person can find themselves in as opposed to the often fairytale, fluffy stories in many fictional romances depicted by Hollywood.
Now there are certainly situations where a partner isn't safe to stay with, or has no intention of changing incredibly destructive habits which would be intolerable and unfixable.
However, the point of this movie is that many people have a decent spouse, and they need to carry through and make things better together instead of separately.
As a now 30yr old with parents that divorced in my tween aged years, I can attest that the some of the damage from a divorce never completely goes away for the entire family I have a case of parents that in the end have admitted individually years later they probably should have stayed together, but one parent remarried too soon.
So giving a case for holding on to a commitment and putting someone else first I think makes this movie one with a good message to consider.
